For those of you who missed the Tweetalong with the Carrollton PD last night (or you just want to refresh your memory) – Here’s a run through of what happened.
Note: Times listed, are times that tweets were received – based on Central Standard Time, the time zone that Carrollton PD is in.
18:02: Hello everybody joining tonight’s Tweetalong from 6 p.m. to approximately 2 a.m. We will be tweeting calls for service, arrests, and pics.
18:03: We also look forward to your questions and will try and respond to everyone.
18:04: We will be using the hash tag #tweetalong throughout the night. If you are unable to follow tonight, catch up tomorrow using that hash tag
18:06: Officers are working the earlier crash on IH-35E at Belt Line. All vehicles were driveable but the drivers stayed on the highway.
18:06: Officers arrived on scene and instructed the drivers to move from the highway and move to the frontage road.
18:07: Did you know drivers are required by law to move their cars from the highway if involved in an accident and the vehicle is driveable?
Question From Follower: “Carrollton PD, How do you protect yourself from hit and runs if you pull off the road and the other person doesn’t?”
Answer: The law requires this to be done “as soon as possible.” It’s ok to get other driver’s license plate & name from their ID then move
18:09: Another shift change is occurring now. Carrollton PD has overlapping shift changes to ensure constant coverage of the city.
18:13: Texas Transportation Code 550.022 directs drivers to move as “soon as possible.” Get the information then clear off highway & wait for officers
18:17: For officer safety reasons, we will delay posting calls for service tonight until the officer has left the location.
18:20: Beat officer is contacting some known gang members on the south side of the city and is requesting backup.
18:27: Twitter famous Police K9 Fax will be working with us tonight.
18:30: You may remember K9 Fax from his famous night vision goggles post during one of our other tweetalongs.
18:32: A reminder tonight that officers will be out in force searching for DWI drivers. You can help by calling 911 on any suspected intoxicated drivers.
18:34: Officer is stopping a possible intoxicated pedestrian running through traffic on E. Frankford Rd. Requesting backup.
18:42: Do you know about our 24/7/365 DWI No Refusal policy?
18:42: If we arrest a driver for DWI and they refuse a blood sample, the officer will seek a search warrant for their blood.
19:01: Earlier officer who spotted intoxicated pedestrian running in traffic was already on a traffic stop. Officer arrested pedestrian for Public Intoxication.
19:03: Same officer returned to her traffic stop and arrested the driver for No Driver License and FMFR (no insurance).
19:15: K9 officer on a traffic stop requesting backup. He has a driver with Alvarado PD warrants.
19:25: K9 officer has arrested driver with Alvarado PD warrants. Another officer will transport for him. K9 Fax is weird about people being in his backseat.
19:39: Officer just arrested a subject at Walmart for Theft Under $50. Our Walmart has really good loss prevention employees.
Question From Follower: “Carrollton PD, Is Fax a German dog? A Dachshund?”
Answer: Fax is a German Sheppard. Our last Dachshund didn’t work out…
20:29: A Carrollton officer is currently assisting CPS with an investigation at an apartment.
20:55: Officer investigating a 911 hang up at Metrocrest Apartments payphone, found no emergency.
21:06: Officer has arrested driver and passenger from a traffic stop 2700 block Scott Mill for Carrollton and other agency warrants.
21:09: The driver was also charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
21:26: Traffic stop on a biycle rider at the DART station on N. Denton Dr.
21:28: Rider was in lane of traffic on Belt Line with no white headlamp. Issued a citation for the same. pic.twitter.com/mgy58h6Jyk
21:49: We are searching for a reported nude driver in the area of N. Josey Lane and Country Club Drive. We have not been able to locate the vehicle yet
21:52: I stopped a vehicle matching the description but the driver had pants… and a shirt. Apparently not related. We are clear.
22:01: Assisting K9 Officer who stopped a vehicle. The driver and passenger have Carrollton & other agency warrants pic.twitter.com/YNyJyRV0w1
22:03: Officers responding to a call of an unknown male who walked into a female’s apartment. Husband was home and chased male. Their location unknown
22:05: We are receiving lots of tips on the nude driver being someone they may know. If you confirm anything, let us know.
22:13: Backing up an Officer on a traffic stop. Stopped driver for speeding. 1000 block E. Belt Line Road
22:30: Carrollton officer is investigating a report of a vehicle burglary.
22:32: We are lucky to have our Citizens on Patrol out tonight as well. They are a great help to us and the community!
22:35: Officers are on scene of a Disturbance at one of our motels between a customer and the manager.
22:48: Officers are en route to an Investigation where a male called his wife from a business saying he was assaulted. We have limited info.
22:49: Remember to always call 911 yourself so we can get firsthand information. Know your location and don’t hang up until the dispatcher says to.

22:53: Update to the Disturbance at the motel: Female customer has been arrested and charged with Fail to Identify and Assault on a Public Servant
22:58: After being arrested, the female kicked the arresting officer in the stomach. The officer was not seriously injured.
23:09: Update to man that walked into citizen’s apartment: suspect was not located, officer taking report for Burglary of a Habitation.
23:09: The incident occurred at the Villa Sienna Apartments located at 3022 N. Josey Lane
23:14: K9 Officer Smyder has arrested his 4th person with Carrollton warrants tonight. It’s important to take care of your citations.
23:18: K9 Officer on a traffic stop requesting a backup. We are en route.
23:42: I was disregarded in backing up the K9 officer. Another officer arrived first. He arrested his fifth person with Carrollton warrants.
23:42: The K9 officer also located drug paraphernalia.
23:43: We are en route to a noise disturbance at an apartment complex down south.
23:45: En route to a possible disturbance with a gun.
00:00: Update to Disturbance with a gun: Caller reported that another customer showed a gun in their waistband during a verbal argument.
00:01: The caller left the restaurant and waited 10 minutes to call CPD. Officers arrived on scene but the suspect apparently left.
00:02: Update to our previous noise disturbance. 1919 Walnut Plaza. We found the subjects drinking beer and being loud outside their apartment.
00:05: They even agreed to clean up their broken beer bottles before we left.
00:31: En route to backup the Patrol Commander on a traffic stop. He is requesting another unit.
00:38: Commander has noticed signs of intoxication. Backup unit will administer SFST’s (standardized field sobriety test).
00:56: Officers administering SFST’s now.
01:13: The driver was just arrested for DWI. The driver was stopped for running a red light where the Commander was. pic.twitter.com/RU4f8NcqWV
01:16: Awesome news: Update to the vehicle burglary we tweeted earlier at the Union Station on the Square Apartments in old downtown…. While investigating the vehicle burglary, the officer contacted a suspicious male in the parking garage. Through his investigation, officer found that the male was responsible for the burglaries and had also attempted to steal a car. Subject crashed car in garage.
01:28: The suspect has been charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Burglary of a Vehicle.
01:30: Stopped driver of a vehicle that a citizen called 911 on for suspicion of DWI. Officers checking driver now.
01:39: Driver was found to be sober and released. We appreciae all calls from citizens.
01:40: I just placed an orange parking violation warning sticker on a vehicle that was displayed for sale on a residential street.
01:41: The owner could have been cited but a 12 hour follow-up was scheduled and an officer will be automatically dispatched today at 1:30 p.m.
01:41: The car also had expired registration and inspection. If the vehicle is still there, owner could be cited and or the vehicle could be towed.
01:45: Officers have checked out on a suspicious vehicle found at a closed fast food business. Occupant shows to have Carrollton warrants.
01:47: Officer has arrested the occupant for his warrants.
01:49: The driver from the earlier DWI arrest will be offered the chance to provide a blood specimen.
01:50: If he refuses, the arresting officer will seek a search warrant to take the specimen per Carrollton PD’s 24/7/365 No Refusal policy
02:13: Officers are responding to a residential alarm.
02:25: Officers are assisting DART PD with an assault that took place at one of the train stations between two acquaintances.
02:25: Officers just cleared the residential alarm. All was secure.
02:26: Officers are starting to increase their traffic stops to look for intoxicates drivers.
