Remember when you were in grade school and went on a field trip (or maybe you were in girl/Boy Scouts on a camping trip) how you used the “buddy system”. I remember helping out on a Girl Scout camping trip one time….. The phrase “Where’s your buddy” was repeated so many times, it would have been easier to simply record the message for instant (and continuous) replay….. But that’s not what I’m here to blog about (at least not the part about the Girl Scout camping trip.
I do, however, want to blog/talk about the importance of the “buddy system”. No we’re not talking like back in grade school when you practically had to hold hands and all that. But you should never go into a dangerous situation without (at least) back up. And, you should never (unless there is ABSOLUTELY no other choice) leave your “buddy” behind….. I should interject here that “buddy” can be plural…. You’ve seen the movie Backdraft right?!? “You go, We go”…. Ok maybe that’s not 100% an accurate depiction of what does or should happen (keep in mind, I’m no expert here), but the concept I’m getting at is don’t just go leaving your buddy(ies) behind. Know where they are at…. And – back to first “rule” – don’t go into dangerous situations without buddy/back-up
