Just for kicks, grins & crazy giggles, I figured I’d use one of the apps on my phone to test my EMT skills… See where I stood after a good 20+ (close to 25 years perhaps) lapse of time since taking a basic level course.
Figured I would start off at the bottom of the ladder with EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) – the class I took 20+ years ago would have been at EMT Level. Didn’t do as good as I might have hoped here. Only got 68%, but not bad considering no class, no training, and no study.
Next in line was EMT – the level at which I was lard certified (strangely, I can’t find record of certification, but moot point this many years later. So my score here was 55% – not as good as I had hoped, but hey… Not to shabby. After all, it has been quite a few years.
The surprising thing, to me, was that I only went down 5 percentage points at the next level up of AEMT (Advanced) – A difference of only 3 questions missed. Keep in mind I only made it part way through the EMT-II class 20+ years ago (which would be about equivalent to AEMT – I assume) and failed miserably at the course.
I did start an attempt at Paramedic level but after the first few questions had my eyeballs spinning & smoke coming from my ears in confusion, I decided to put that test off. Still, can’t help but wonder….
