Back for more Weekend Coffee Share
I already told you about the video project I was working on the first part of the week from the Training Center “Open House” that I want to last Saturday. For those of you who didn’t catch it last week here’s the video again…
I’ll leave you with this thought (I don’t recall where I originally read or heard this) — Why is it that only you spend only 10 percent of your training time on emergency medicine when roughly 80% of your calls are medical in nature?
Another thought, or question really… How much time are you spending on training and drills in general? What are you doing to ensure that members of our fire department are receiving proper training? Training isn’t something to be done once a month but rather every day. Find ways to run drills every day – PPE drills, hose drills, etc.
Drill, Drill, Drill till those drills become second nature and can be done in your sleep… Then do them some more. Your life (and the lives of others) depend on your ability to do what you learn during those drills when the proverbial “shit” hits the fan.
