Good Morning. Hope you’re all having a wonderful and SAFE Fourth of July weekend. I’ve already had one cup of coffee this morning. Need to get in the kitchen and start my second – thinking of making myself a coffee smoothie (it’s really quite delicious & simple to make) Can I interest you in a taste? or perhaps just a cup of regular coffee?? I’m actually going to be making a cup of extra strong “Super Dark” for my smoothie. I’d offer “I.V.” style (those of EMS types out there will probably get the joke) but I’m afraid my skills are way on the rusty side (I’ve said that before haven’t I? Pretty sure I have).
Pretty sure a good number of you probably decided to do your own fireworks — I can only hope that you played it safe with those fireworks and used necessary precautions for safety.
Definitely heard fireworks around here, which surprised me because I was fairly certain that we’d be under a fire/fireworks ban again. I know we were the last two years we’ve lived here (but then I heard fireworks then too – WTH). Don’t know for sure if there was a ban this year or not – I never did look into it. Considering we never do fireworks at our house, I just never took the time.
While I do enjoy watching fireworks as much as the next guy and enjoy a quiet celebration of the fourth (not that we do much of anything with finances being so dang tight), my thoughts go to the firefighters, police officers, and paramedics who work that day. I know it can get crazy with people… well…. basically being stupid. Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying that everyone is stupid, just saying that this time of year, people can do really stupid shit. I remember several years back (when we were living in Texas), on one Fourth of July, some of the down the street neighbors had the bright idea of shooting off a gun for Fourth of July (at least that’s what I had heard later & what it sounded like when I heard it)…. Only thing I can say is WTF. I’m not against gun use for target practice or possibly self-defense (in extreme emergency situations), but just popping off a gun for the fun of it — Ohhh and to make matters worse — I heard one of the guys had been drinking…. Ummmmm recipe for disaster!?!.
Anyway, that enough of my Fourth of July rant…. I hope you’ll all take a brief moment to head over to Diane’s Weekend Coffee Share on Part-Time Monster and pay her a visit as well as some of the other Weekend Coffee Share participants. I know they aren’t necessarily Public Safety related blogs but if your in the mood for something else there’s some good stuff over there.
Take Care and STAY SAFE!!!!
