First, for the record, I am not a Firefighter, Paramedic, EMT or anything of the like…. I am not in anyway officially involved with any of the above. I just happen to have a strong interest in the area of Fire/EMS and a heart for the firefighters, paramedics, EMTs and all Rescue Workers who risk limb (and often life) for others.
My interest has been a life long thing from the very first time (that I remember) visiting a family friend at the local fire Station in Eugene, OR at (I’m guessing) 6 or 7 years old. It was so long ago that I no longer remember my exact age, just the feeling of awe as those firefighters leaped unto their trucks (I swear they’re feet never touched the ground). It seems that no matter what I do I always find myself drawn back. I could get into an “if only” game here… If only the cards had been played right years ago…
Recently I thought of an idea to collect short stories & anecdotes from firefighters, with the thought of putting together a book of stories from firefighters with the idea of donating some of the proceeds to various organizations that help Firefighters (including their families) – such as the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and The Hero Organization (HerotoHeroes).
If you would like to share your firefighter story send me an eMail at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please let me know if you would like your name included with your story/article. Proper Credit will be given and all rights remain yours. This is simply to be a collection of stories.
